Giving Back at TOFW - Service Project and Scholarships

{Please check out the REG BY CITY to see how things are going in your area}
WEEKLY BUSINESS
Blog Comments:  I loved reading all the small/big and important things you are doing this summer to seek the good.  It made my day!   Now we just need to get the other half of the team on the blog.  Give them a shout out on Facebook.  ;)
--------------------------------------------------------------
WEEKLY FOCUS
Giving Back, TOFW- Style
#1 GOOD MEAL PROJECT~ Our 2012 Service Project is called THE GOOD MEAL PROJECT.  We will be creating bagged meals at the event that will be donated to the Food Bank in each city that is part of the 2012 Tour.  The process will be much like our Possibility Packs and Hope Kits from prior years.

~Attendees will be asked to bring the following items as donations when they come to the event (letter corresponding to the first letter in their last name):

A - F Chili (TWO - 15 oz. cans)
G – K Biscuit Mix ( TWO 8 oz. "just add water" mixes)
L - R Green beans (TWO - 14.5 oz. cans)
S - Z Teddy Grahams (ONE 10 oz. box)

~Team members will collect and sort donations Friday evening and Saturday morning
~During lunch on Saturday we will have 2 assembly shifts where attendees can assemble meals into bags that will be donated to the food bank.

I've attached a PDF information sheet about the project to your email today so you can share it with everyone you know coming!

#2 SCHOLARSHIP~ Our Scholarship program is ONLY RUN THROUGH THE TEAM and so you are the only ones out there to tell the women about it. For a reminder of what the scholarship program is click here. Please take note at the right the scholarship coordinator's contact information and scholarship submission deadline.

IDEAS FOR SHARING Scholarship:

1. Send an email to all your friends and family and ask them if they know of anyone that wants to go, but cannot afford it. You might say something like this: “Have you talked to someone who would love to go to TOFW, but can’t afford the full-price? As a team member, I have the opportunity to offer a few women scholarship registrations. Please send anyone you know that is in this situation to me and I will help to get them registered. We don’t want ANYONE to miss this!”

2. Ward leaders: Although we do not advertise this event to the members of your ward through church channels, you might want to contact your ward Relief Society President and let her know that you are a team member and have access to the “scholarship program.” Tell her that if she becomes aware of a woman who is in this situation, to have them contact you and you will take care of them. The woman needs to come to you personally, rather than having the leader submit their name to you, just so we can make sure she is fully aware of how the program works and is committed to it. We also want to make sure that she never confuses this with being something the Church donated for her. PLEASE UNDERSTAND that we do not want any church leader to be in a position where they feel like they are informing a woman about TOFW. And please do not contact leaders outside your natural friendship circles.

Of course, the share challenge this week is all about service!

WEEKLY FOCUS
Get to know a few of our awesome Sacramento Presenters so you can tell everyone about them!

PRESENTER HIGHLIGHT: JERICHO ROAD
The “boy band” is all grown up! After over 10 years of performing together, this group of dads and musicians (and even an attorney) have matured in their music and message (but not so much that they won't do the famous “Boy Band Medley”). With their tight harmonies and solid testimonies, JR is back and better than ever.
Here's some more info on Jericho Road for you to peruse:
PRESENTER HIGHLIGHT: MARY ELLEN EDMUNDS

Mary Ellen Edmunds is a longtime favorite of TOFW and one of our original presenters.  If you've heard her speak before, you'll be excited to hear her new insights on Seeking the Good!  If you've never heard her, we promise you'll be LAUGHING and CRYING (the good kind!) as her well crafted brand of humorous spirituality lifts your heart and broadens your mind.

Here's a bit more of MEE (as she affectionately calls herself!):

SHARE CHALLENGE
If “music soothes the soul” and “laughter is the best medicine”, then this week’s share challenge can’t help but make a few people smile! Share either this fun clip from Mary Ellen Edmunds or this beautiful song by Jericho Road with your FB friends or email crowd.  Actually, there’s no need to choose…why not share ‘em both for a double dose of awesomeness!   Either way, you’ll strike a chord with someone who needs a TOFW-style pick-me-up.

Please share the email with everyone just in case they didn't get it from us.
PERSONAL EMAILS: Make your emails PERSONAL, include a reason why you think they would love TOFW. Encourage them to gather a group!
EMAIL TIP:AVOID THE APPEARANCE OF SPAM!!  Write something fun with it that makes them want to open your email AND click on the link.  The subject could be: “Come Seek the Good!” OR “Jericho Road, Dean Hughes, Emily Watts, And MORE…come join us!”

Get creative…have fun…and SPREAD THE WORD!
 ---------------------------------------------------------------
SHARE CHALLENGE!
In addition to sharing the email link from above, Create Your OWN Email Campaign!    That's right, you can be your very own TOFW promotional genius, with your own email campaign.  Here's how to get started!

1) Make a list of all your friends (along with email address) in the area that might be interested in attending TOFW.  You can even create a "contacts group" in your email address book so it is easy to email them each time.  Be sure you always put the email addresses in the "Blind CC" area so it doesn't show a huge list of names and email addresses at the beginning of the email.

2) Send a first email telling them that you are a TEAM MEMBER and that you are so excited to tell them about TOFW over the next several weeks.
Here is a sample:
Subject: Time Out for Women 2012 in SACRAMENTO!
Message: Hello Ladies!  I have been a HUGE fan of Time Out for Women for many years and now have the opportunity to share it with you!  I am the promotional representative for the _______ area and want to share this awesome opportunity with you!  This is my first email, but I will be sending emails regularly to you as the event gets closer.  If you would like to have your name removed from this list, simply write back and let me know and I will remove your email with no questions asked.  However, I would definitely want to hear if there is someone you feel would benefit from this event and I can add their email quicker than you can bat an eye!  I've got the link below for the event here in our area which includes the dates, times, place and of course the cost.  I will send more info in the upcoming weeks, but if you have any questions right now after looking at the website please let me know!  http://deseretbook.com/timeout/event/202

3) In the coming weeks, as I share information, presenter highlights, etc. with YOU about the event, you can then send an email to your little email campaign group.  Always offer them the option to "unsubscribe".  Make the emails SHORT, SIMPLE, SWEET, PERSONAL, and FUN! Always make it a fresh email (to avoid the appearance of spam) and make the subject line interesting.

COMMENT CORNER: What have you been hearing from women you are talking to? Are they receptive? Is it easy to get the word out? Any challenges you are facing?
